Fresh Start: Reconnecting with School (September 2020)

Project Overview

This Home Office funded project, offers a programme of creative targeted support to engage young people making the transition from primary to secondary in September 2020. The aim of this early intervention programme, is to work intensively with young people identified at risk of being involved in serious violence, for a period of four months to support their positive (re)engagement with education and to reduce the risk factors relating to serious youth violence

Outcomes for young people

• Discover practical ways to effectively manage change, stress, friendships and conflict in themselves and others
• Feel more valued, engaged and involved in their school and community
• Develop strategies that promote help-seeking behaviour, improve awareness and access to available support
• Young people seen in a more positive light by peers, teachers and school, leading to positive sense of identity and belonging, and increased self-efficacy
